To further explore this prospect the Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Infrastructure Technologies Program, and the Wind and Hydropower Technologies Program at the Department of Energy held a workshop to bring together stakeholders from wind, hydropower, and the electrolysis industries on September 9-10, 2003.
The main objectives of the workshop were to:
1) discuss with stakeholders their current activities related to hydrogen,
2) explore with industry opportunities for low-cost hydrogen production through integration between wind and hydropower, water electrolysis and the electricity grid, and
3) review and provide feedback on a current Department of Energy/National Renewable Energy Laboratory analysis efforts to study opportunities for wind electrolysis and other renewable electricity sources.
