Rules of Engagement

Each unit can have individual rules of engagement set to control how that unit reacts to spotting enemy units. You can change these by pressing the buttons on the left hand panel under the unit’s health and ammo information. These buttons witch between different modes.

ROE Tutorial added. An additional tutorial is available for 2.12 rules of engagement. Current ROE setting is shown on unit panel.

Continue on sighting: The unit will continue with its original orders, ignoring any spotted enemy units.

Halt on sighting: The unit will stop as soon if it spots an enemy unit. This instruction does not apply to any enemy units already visible on the map at the start of the turn, only to enemy units that become spotted during the turn.

Retreat on sighting: The unit will back track along its path until the enemy unit that triggered the reaction is out of the line of sight. Further sightings of enemy units will have no effect, so do not expect this instruction to keep moving the unit.

Fire on Command: The unit will only shoot if given explicit fire orders.

Fire at Will: If the unit has no specific orders it will shoot at any spotted enemy unit. However, a unit will always take its ‘reaction time’ to acquire a target before shooting commences. Spawn units with close combat ability will attempt to move towards the spotted enemy unit.
