When you can bring more than one unit onto a specific firing arc, this is referred to as interlocking your fields of fire. Even today in modern combat soldiers are taught to make the most of cover, and concentrate their fire in order to obtain the maximum damage possible.
Note: Yellow is opportunity fire, Orange is structure targeting fire, and the leftmost line, pink, represents directional fire by the Grenadier.

By using Wallbusting, other units are given unrestricted access to easily target enemy units.

Note: Structure has now been heavily damaged by Commanders targeting the structure. Now two Medics, three Grunts, and two Commanders all have open views into the building. The grenade launched can be seen at the leftmost side of the screen as the Grenadier moves towards cover, targeting the back side of the building to catch any units that try to escape. All other units have interlocking fields of fire set for the next turn.
