Some of the coolest things I've seen involve Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and the ability to bring content and instruction across them. This will revolutionize the way the world communicates since a picture is worth a thousand words. What about a motion picture? Is that worth ten thousand words?? What if we can get the information we need, where we need it, when we need it, and it's cost efficient? 3nW Corporation is proud to present our views on how to successfully use those spiffy PDAs in the 21st Century.
Mobile Intelligent Agents - This is what I see a lot of the server / PDA / Mobile market going towards. We all need a PDA that lives up to the Personal Digital Assistant label, maybe this should be termed Personal Digital Agent. Imagine it working through a low-cost satellite phone...
Bad California Cell Phone Coverage? - This holiday season, the only thing I really didn't get that I usually have is good GSM cell phone reception. If this happens to you and you live in California, try UCAN's Dead Zone web site. They have an area to log poor service, and also to search your area before you buy, so you're more informed.
Bleeding Edge - See how Flash content and Plain Language Searchability is breaking into the PDA world. Wait until I mention that there are ways to combine the great Instant Messaging capabilities out there, with smart plain language searchability 'bots'. Now are you beginning to get the picture?
PDA Phone Fusion - Voice ability is crucial; so is size and battery life. Are these combination PDA Phones really worth it, or are there better ways to obtain connectivity?
PDAs Defined - When you really want to know what those little gadgets are, and why they're so versatile. Includes information about the operating systems, different methods to hook up to the Internet, battery life, etc.
Wireless Enabled PDAs - What's the deal with these? How to sort out the different terminology into things that everyone can understand and relate to. Figure out the different standards and how to use them.
Wireless Choices - More information on the standards available, such as GSM, CDMA, CDPD, etc.
SMS, MMS and Instant Messaging - When you compare the great benefits of SMS, which has become a leading income generator for wireless, how will it compare to the overwhelming cost efficiency of Instant Messaging?
Warchalking - Brand new in 2002, only a few months from a discussion over pizza, and almost instantly embraced, this phenomenon is one more thing that ICT worldwide needs to take off and bring more information quickly to others. Based on the Wi-Fi standard, this is the beginning of a small, but growing community of shared connectivity that echoes Napster and Gnutella mindsets. The question remains, will it die out, or become a major threat to 3G growth?
Obstacles to 3G - Wading through the hype to see what's going to happen. Why would anyone want to buy technology when there are no current solutions? On top of that, why buy if you can get it for nearly free with Wi-Fi by keeping your eyes open?
Running Voice 2.0 - My pick for breakthrough Bluetooth application of the year.
Mobile Satellite Services - Remember all those cool satphone cameras used by CNN and the rest during Afghanistan? Here's more on the growth of widespread data communications. Full operation by 2007 is the ambitious goal, and some operators will fail to qualify at the end of July 2002.
